This resource for researchers, teachers, and general users, created in 2001-2004 under a grant from the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities, is administered by the World History Network, Inc. Work continues to build the website up to its full potential.

The World History Network provides a review of electronic materials for research and teaching in world history. The Network website itself provides reviews of the field, tutorials, announcements, a discussion forum, research reports, assessments of websites, guides to methods for research and teaching, and detailed materials for teaching and research. In addition, the Network provides links to a wide range of internet and other electronic resources for teaching and research in world history.

The purpose of the World History Network is to go beyond a simple list of electronic resources in world history, and to develop techniques for connecting these resources into broad and critical interpretations of the global past. Its audience is practitioners of world history, both teachers and researchers, and it emphasizes the close connection between research and teaching.
